In 2020 Simon Rex claimed that he was offered $70 000 by a British tabloid to say he “hooked up” with Meghan Markle.
After finding out that he turned the offer down, the Duchess of Sussex thanked him.
“It’s nice to know there are still good people,” she reportedly wrote in a note to Rex.
Meghan Markle’s Cuts co-star, Simon Rex, revealed how the Duchess of Sussex thanked him for avoiding a potential tabloid story.
In 2020 Rex claimed that he was offered $70 000 by a British tabloid to say he “hooked up” with Markle before her relationship with now-husband Prince Harry. But, per E! News, Rex turned down the offer because he “didn’t feel right” about lying and didn’t want to cause any trouble with Britain’s royal family.
In an interview with The Guardian, Rex shared more about the incident, revealing that Markle wrote him a thank-you note after hearing about what happened.
“She said: ‘It’s nice to know there are still good people,'” he revealed, adding that the letter is now framed at his home.
The actor went on to reveal that at the time the offer was made, he was in desperate need of the money but that he would “be on food stamps before I do that.”
Speaking about what actually happened when he and Markle co-starred in a 2005 episode of Cuts, Rex admitted they had gone out but added that it was “in a very non-datey way.”
